WorkFirst NJ emphasizes work as the first step towards building a new life and a better future. The goal is to assist people in securing employment and becoming economically self-sufficient through job training, education, and work activities.  WFNJ provides families with cash assistance and other support services through TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families).  New Jersey also has a program for single adults and couples without children known as WorkFirst New Jersey General Assistance (GA).
